(December 2023) The Leopard 2 is a third generation German main battle tank (MBT). Developed by Krauss-Maffei in the 1970s, the tank entered service in 1979 and replaced the earlier Leopard 1 as the main battle tank of the West German army.
LEOPARD 2 A7+ KMW
Rheinmetall AG has won an important order in connection with a significant NATO main battle tank project. On 17 February 2023 the Norwegian procurement agency NDMA contracted with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) to supply the Norwegian armed forces with 54 of the latest version of Leopard 2 main battle tank, the A7 NOR.
Leopard 2A7 Military Edge
The Leopard 2A7 is an updated version of the main battle tank Leopard 2A6. This new upgrade to the Leopard 2 tank adds new armour, an energy system, a cooling system for the crew compartment, and a new system for firing weapons. The Leopard 2A7 is fundamentally different from the KMW variant 2A7+, and it is not designed to fight in urban areas.

On February 22, 2021, Germany has signed a contract with Israel to purchase the Trophy active protection system (APS) for its Leopard 2A7V Main Battle Tanks (MBTs). The Israeli Trophy APS is now in service with three countries including Israel on the Merkava 4, the United States on the M1A2 SEPV V3 also called M1A2C and the German Leopard 2A7A1.
